The HRC Showcase Theatre Playwriting Contest

2020 Playwriting Contest Guidelines
HRC Showcase Theatre in Hudson, New York, invites submissions of full-length plays to its annual contest from new, aspiring or established playwrights. Each submitted play should be between 70 and 90 pages in length (running time maximum 90 minutes excluding intermission), be previously unpublished, require no more than six actors, and be suitable for presentation as a staged reading by professional performers. No one-person shows, musicals or children’s plays will be considered.
The 2020-2021 HRC season runs from October, 2020 to June, 2021. Judges will select the winner of the W Keith Hedrick award ($500), which will be presented as the final staged reading of the season. The authors of the four runners-up also selected for readings will each be awarded $100. To qualify for the prizes, each playwright must attend the reading of his/her play in Hudson, New York. Overnight accommodations will be provided. There is a $10.00 processing fee for each play submitted.

In your e-mail message, please let us know where you heard about the contest. There should be two attachments:
The play itself and a synopsis no more than a page in length. In order to ensure a blind reading, remove all identifying and contact information from this attachment.
The name of the play and playwright, contact information and biography.
